Frost Cave mini-dungeons: new Mountain areas that are similar to the Sunken Crypts in the Swamp.Here’s a short overview of everything new in the Valheim Frost Cave update: Head to a previously unexplored patch of Mountain Biome to explore your first Caves. It introduces ‘Frost Caves’ filled with new creatures, items, and resources. The third small Valheim update since Hearth and Home, the long-awaited Mountain Cave update, has arrived on March 1. Valheim Mountain biome update: Frost caves In case you’re wondering how to craft an Armor Stand, it’s quite simple: find eight pieces of Fine Wood (Birch Trees and Oaks), two Leather Scraps (dropped from Boar), and four Iron Nails (forged find Scrap Iron in the Swamp). It’s a type of storage, but it mostly just looks cool. Fulfilling a long-time request from the player base, the Armor Stand is used to put any armor piece or full set on display. The second small update, which arrived just before Christmas, added several seasonal items (such as the Yule Hat and Yule tree) as well as an Armor Stand. Root armour: a new armour set made from Roots, Ancient Bark, and Deer Hide.Root: a new material dropped by the Abominations.Abomination Trophy: gained by defeating the Abomination.They look like tree stumps and tend to spawn in open water. Abominations: the new Swamp mini-bosses.The first, the Swamp Biome update, added the following enemies and items to Valheim: Valheim has already received three small updates since the Hearth and Home release. To add a bit more detail: Valheim shows the Steam Deck controller icons, the in-game interface is legible, it works with the built-in controls, and the default graphics configuration performs well. In their Steam post on March 25, Iron Gate confirms that Valheim is now verified by Valve on Steam Deck, which means it’s fully compatible. The ports are handled by two external teams instead of Iron Gate. There will be full crossplay support between Steam, Xbox and Microsoft. The game will be available on PC Game Pass starting fall 2022, and on Xbox Game Pass in early 2023. On June 14, it was announced that Valheim is coming to Xbox and the Microsoft store. Besides the cloud sync issues patch in June, the Valheim developers have been fully focused on the Mistlands update for the past few months. The Frost Caves were the last of the smaller additions before the next big update. And they delivered on that promise: since late 2021, we’ve welcomed the Swamp update, the Armor Stand update, and the Frost Caves update (more on them below). On March 25, the developers added that the new biome is “quite some time away still, but we are excited for it and we believe the result will be well worth the wait.”Īfter the release of Hearth and Home, Valheim developer Iron Gate said they would work on some smaller updates to add before the arrival of the Mistlands. There’s no release date for Mistlands just yet.
